Mayun's self-taught practice is informed by burnout at a startup & an attempt to rekindle the joys of boyhood from his small-town turned suburb of Hanwella.
Mayun’s practice revolves around the tactile-immediacy of painting, photography, print-making & writing and their function in embodied-meaning-making.
Mayun’s work is energized most by the tensions of masculinity, class, labor & brownness in the various pockets of his fast-developing home-land and inevitably, that of the “man-made” against the ecological.
Mayun also collaborates through artistic interventions at The Packet and by organizing third-spaces such as Monsoon Blues & Co in Colombo.
For the last 4 years since quitting a career in tech; Nilwella -a southern fishing village, has been his home.
