Mayun is an artist and organizer based in Nilwella, a southern fishing village in Sri Lanka. Informed by burnout in tech-startups of Colombo, his self-taught practice draws from the rhythms of coastal life, giving space to explore class-aspirations, masculinity and labour –as tradition, modernity and ecology clash in post-war Sri Lanka.
Favouring tactile and contemplative methods, Mayun’s process expands on passing encounters and personal narratives, channeling them into experimental and affective blends of medium across painting, photography, printed-matter, and text.
As an active member of The Packet, Mayun fosters collective, playful and intimate artistic interventions, like for the upcoming Singapore Biennale (2025). He also organizes Monsoon Blues & Co. gatherings, where sound and poetry come together in moments of performance, community and shared dialogue.
